HPE Synergy D3940: A next-generation in-tool box storage module that can be assigned to any blade in the toolbox, suitable for scenarios such as big data and software-defined storage.

Do you need flexible storage resources within the HPE Synergy 12000 framework? The HPE Synergy D3940 enclosure provides a dynamic pool of storage resources for molded infrastructure. Easily configure and intelligently manage additional capacity for compute modules with integrated data services for availability and protection. Each enclosure’s 40 SFF drive bays can be populated with 12 G SAS or 6 G SATA drives. Scale up to 5 enclosures in a single Synergy12000 framework for a total of 200 drives. Any drive bay can be partitioned into any compute module, allowing capacity to be used efficiently without having to follow a fixed ratio. Use HPE StoreVirtual VSA to create virtualized software-defined storage resources to be used in the framework. The second HPE Synergy D3940 I/O Adapter provides redundant paths to disks within the enclosure to ensure high data availability. The HPE Synergy D3940 Enclosure and HPE Synergy 12Gb SAS Connectivity Module have been optimized for performance in the non-blocking 12 Gb/s SAS architecture.

The HPE Synergy D3940 Enclosure allows for flexible grouping of disk drives and blending them with any one or more Synergy Compute Modules within the Unified Synergy Framework. A range of small form factor (SFF) drive options are mixed and matched to match drive types and sizes, providing the flexibility to properly balance performance and capacity for a wide range of workloads, including databases, collaboration (email/communications), files, web, and media streaming. Easily expand storage capacity with up to 200 drives by adding up to 5 Synergy D3940 enclosures per HPE Synergy framework. The Synergy D3940 enclosure can be configured for high-density direct-attached storage or deployed as flexible, scale-out software-defined shared storage when virtualized and configured via StoreVirtual VSA.

The HPE Synergy D3940 Enclosure provides a non-blocking, end-to-end 12 Gb SAS architecture that leverages flash storage to ensure workloads get the best I/O performance they need. 40 small form factor (SFF) hot-swappable SAS/SATA drive bays per enclosure for up to 200 mandrels, which can be partitioned into any one or more compute modules within a single HPE Synergy framework as needed. The Synergy D3940 enclosure can be configured with single or dual I/O adapters in each enclosure and single or dual HPE Synergy 12 G SAS Connectivity Modules in each HPE Synergy 12000 frame for increased availability.
